See the person, not the age - the campaign

It's predicted that, by 2031, the number of people over 50 in Scotland will rise by 28%, and over 75 by 75%. This website is part of a campaign that was launched by the Scottish Goverment to help challenge negative attitudes about age, and help foster a greater understanding of the contribution that older people make to society. This forms one part of the Goverments older persons strategy.

Research - and everyday experience - shows that ageism exists, and it has a negative impact on the lives of both young and old. People are still being wrongly judged on the basis of their age, not their experience, abilities and personality.

The population of Scotland is changing. Find out about the Scottish Goverment's strategy to embrace the changing population on their website.
